Hello and welcome
I have always had a keen interest in wildlife and the great outdoors;
I was an Angler for over 30 years but gave it up a few years ago to
concentrate on photographing wildlife. I lived in Runcorn; Cheshire a
short distance from the M56 that gave me great access to the Wirral,
Northwales and Lancashire, with some great countryside on my doorstep
I didn't have to travel too far in search of wildlife and photographic
opportunities.
Some of my wildlife photographs range from as far afield as Cuba,
Antigua, Saint Martin, Saint Lucia, Dominican Republic, Tuscany ,
Corfu, Turkey, Spain, Portugal.
I now live in the Charente area of western France.

Frozen
After lots of rain followed by snow and ice at last the weather has (fingers crossed) started to pick up.

My bird feeders are attracting more and more Siskin’s and Goldfinch along with Greenfinch and different Hawfinch. Lizards and insects have also started to appear.

The Little Owl has been around but I haven’t pointed by lens at it.
Large groups of Cranes have started to return, flying high in their V formations over the hamlet.
The cold snap has however taken its toll on amphibians. Newts trapped in frozen small pools have died.

New Toys for 2018
I’ve been in France 3 months (which has gone very quickly) and I have decided to get some new toys to play with.
A Canon 5Dmk4, 100/400 4.5/5.6 mk 2 lens and extenders plus 100mm 2.8 macro lens.

In the garden the Hawfinch is still showing up along with Greenfinch, Goldfinch, Siskin, Coal Tit, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Willow Tit, Redpoll, Brambling, Collared Dove, Chaffinch, Dunnock and a gang of House Sparrows which the local Sparrowhawk likes the taste of.
The Little Owls are still around and visit the garden at night in search of mice that are attached to the seed at the feeding station. I have also noticed some Badger activity just outside of the house but not on a regular basis, need to put the Trail cam out.
