Once Bittern twice shy
With some light promised for later in the afternoon I decided to take a trip to see if any Bitterns were showing. With its marvellous camouflage and stealthy habit the Bittern can be difficult and sometimes boring the photograph, sulking in the reeds it can do very little for long periods of time. But in flight or hunting mode it can be spectacular.

What a show this fabulous bird put on for us, I've never seen a Bittern anywhere near as close as that before. I'm still wading through my photos deciding what I can get rid of coz there's way too many to process them all.
