Hello and welcome
I have always had a keen interest in wildlife and the great outdoors;
I was an Angler for over 30 years but gave it up a few years ago to
concentrate on photographing wildlife. I lived in Runcorn; Cheshire a
short distance from the M56 that gave me great access to the Wirral,
Northwales and Lancashire, with some great countryside on my doorstep
I didn't have to travel too far in search of wildlife and photographic
opportunities.
Some of my wildlife photographs range from as far afield as Cuba,
Antigua, Saint Martin, Saint Lucia, Dominican Republic, Tuscany ,
Corfu, Turkey, Spain, Portugal.
I now live in the Charente area of western France.

The female lizard seems to have lost her tail due to a predator attack.

This fast-flying insect belongs to a group known as ascalaphids easily recognised by their long-clubbed antennae.

They fly in the sunshine and catch insects on the wing. When the sun goes in, they land on vegetation and fold their wings in.

Flying Snakes
Western Whip snake: Coluber viridiflavus
It’s been a strange day today, after cutting the grass I went to the bottom of the garden to see if the Western Whip snake was still in its’ usual spot and it was.
I put the lawn mower in the hanger and as I was chatter to my wife as she was potting on some cuttings, two Western Whip Snakes dropped out of the sky and landed in front of us.

They had fallen from the roof of the house; it was a very weird thing to happen, we watched as they slithered away down the path and out of sight.

Western Whip Snakes are very good climbers and it’s not unusual to find them in your roof space.

After a short discussion with my wife I took the dog for a walk and returned home one hour later.
My wife was still in the same area still potting on her plants, when again two Snakes dropped onto the path next to us.

I went and got my camera and took some photographs of one of them, after catching one I moved it away from the house and released it under a hedge.
